Staff and community members recognized for life-saving efforts

Eight Grants Pass School District 7 staff members and community members received a standing ovation during the December 14, 2021 meeting of the Grants Pass School Board.

The 8 individuals were recognized for jumping into action to help a referee who collapsed during a recent basketball game. The group provided CPR and utilized the automated external defibrillator (AED) in the school gym while they waited for first responders to arrive.

Their collective efforts are credited with saving the referee's life.

On Tuesday, Grants Pass School District 7 and Grants Pass Fire Rescue recognized each individual with certificates, Grants Pass Fire Rescue challenge coins, and customized GP tokens welded by Grants Pass High School metal fabrication students. We thank these staff members, and community members for their willingness to help someone in need: Clay Rounsaville, Holly Zieser, Dave Huddleston, Jake Lingo, Sean Allison, Cory Fox, Kevin Hill, Ron Fien.
