Grants Pass School District 7 celebrates highest graduation rate on record
The Grants Pass School District is proud to announce improvements in graduation rates for the 2023-24 school year. These improvements highlight the district's continued dedication to excellence and success for all.
For the second consecutive year, Grants Pass High School (GPHS) has achieved its highest graduation rate on record, reaching an impressive 93.9% for its four-year graduation rate—significantly surpassing the state average of 81.8%. GPHS also saw a 94.9% 4-year completer rate, which includes students who earned their GED, further reflecting the district’s dedication to ensuring every student reaches their educational goals.
“Reaching an all-time high graduation rate is a testament to the incredible partnership between our dedicated students, their supportive families, and our committed staff,” Grants Pass High School Principal Michele Napier says. “Our commitment to AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school-wide has equipped our students with the skills to be successful in and out of the classroom. Programs like 9th Grade On Track, Reach for Success, and Transition Achievement and Positive Strategies (TAPS) have given our students the tools and confidence to thrive.”
Napier continued, “The diverse offerings in music, Career & Technical Education (CTE), sports, and extracurricular activities foster a rich environment for personal growth, while our College and Career Center empowers students to navigate their futures confidently. We are incredibly proud of each and every student and the bright futures that lie ahead.”
Grants Pass Flexible Learning EXperience (GPFLEX) achieved a graduation rate of 82.9%, providing flexible learning opportunities for students to reach their full potential. Gladiola High School, the district’s alternative education campus, saw significant improvement in its 4-year completer rate, which rose to 71.7% from 65.55% just one year ago.
As a district, Grants Pass School District 7’s 4-year graduation rate was 79.4%, the highest on record, with a 4-year completer rate of 88.4%. This continued progress highlights the district’s commitment to providing support and tailored interventions to meet the needs of all students.
“These improvements are not just statistics; they reflect the hard work and dedication of our entire K-12 system, from early childhood education through high school,” Superintendent Tim Sweeney shared. “This success is the result of the collective efforts across all grade levels, where each member of our community—students, families, staff, and programs—plays an integral role in helping our students prepare for their futures.”
“The improvements we’re seeing in graduation rates result from tireless collaboration among our staff, the programs we offer, and the support we provide each student.” Director of Secondary Education Trisha Evens says. “We are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, academically, socially, and emotionally, as they prepare for life after high school.”
